Columbus Ohio LGBTQ+ Wedding at WatersEdge: Kara + Kayla

Remember when Kara + Kayla brought me out to Tacoma Washington last fall for their Mt. Rainier engagement? Well, fast-forward to July 2022, and it was time to get these two married, on this side of the country! They brought a bit of Washington state to their Ohio celebration. These brides had the most high-energy and adventurous wedding day at WatersEdge, and it was a HOT one!

We began their day getting ready separately – Kara at a nearby hotel, Kayla at their venue – and we were greeted with rain initially, but it soon cleared. We staged their first look at their venue, on the back patio overlooking the water, as their wedding party enthusiastically looked on from inside. From there we piled into their party bus and headed downtown for portraits! We first stopped at Goodale Park and then stopped for beers at Seventh Son Brewery. This was a super fun and lively group, never a dull moment!

Back at their venue, Kara and Kayla were married by the lake, followed by sunset photos, first dances, cake cutting, toasts and dinner… and lots of dancing! This dance floor was packed all night. We ended the evening with some epic night shots against the string lights… what a fun and beautiful day from beginning to end! I would expect nothing less from these two and their family and friends. We don’t have mountains here, but we did have peak love, togetherness and more than a few tears. Cheers to the brides!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
