What an honor it was to travel to Wisconsin to photograph the fall wedding of my friends Katya + Ilya! I’ve known Katya for many years and even though my schedule made it logistically difficult to get to Wisconsin, I was determined to make it happen. Capturing their love has been quite the adventure – I photographed their engagement session in San Francisco earlier in the year!
At La Pointe Events in Somerset, WI, we had a beautiful early October day for their gothic Nordic-themed wedding! Equal parts romantic and dramatic, I loved being a part of their big day and celebrating with so many of our friends. After each side was dressed, I staged their first look on a path on the property, a bit removed from everything so they had a moment to themselves. We then completed all their portraits with wedding party and family ahead of time, so they could enjoy the rest of the day!
Their ketubah signing kicked off the events of the day, followed by their Jewish ceremony under the chuppah by the stream. Towards the end of the ceremony, the sun came out and Katya and Ilya were married!
Celebrating continued with cocktail hour (with some delicious Russian hor dourves), dinner, toasts, cake cutting, formal dances and a lively Hora! We ended the night with some epic night shots again all the strung lights outside. What a beautiful, happy, lovely day! Mazel Tov to Katya and Ilya!
