Columbus Ohio LGBTQ Wedding at Gahanna Sanctuary: Mandy + Rebecca

Mandy + Rebecca made some changes to their wedding day to make it safe – cut their guest list down to about 20, postponed their reception to next spring – but it wasn’t any less epic! It remained full of sun, laughter, color and joy – and some bubbles and rainbows for good measure!

We began our day getting ready at the Courtyard by Marriott at Easton. Earlier that week, I got super lucky to get permission for the couple to shoot portraits at Easton. They don’t normally give permission but they made an exception for us! We staged their first look at umbrella alley, which honestly is so new I didn’t even know of it until the brides told me about it! From there, we hopped in their limo and stopped for some photos at the rainbow streamers hanging on the main strip.

Then we picked up the wedding party and headed downtown for lots of portraits, visiting a number of locations including 934 Gallery, Scioto Mile, the Columbus Love Murals and Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Then we headed back to Gahanna Sanctuary for their ceremony! Officiated by Ruth Sternberg, it was super sweet and meaningful.

Afterwards, the couple celebrated with a cake cutting, some toasts, and a bubble exit, followed by more portraits at Creekside Gahanna as the sun set. Then I sent them off to their celebratory dinner! Congratulations to Mandy + Rebecca, I can’t wait to celebrate with you again in April!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
