Columbus Ohio Surprise Proposal: Mallary + Conor

It was two days after Valentine’s Day, a beautiful sunny Sunday evening in mid-February, when Conor took Mallary on date in downtown Columbus. She knew they dinner reservations at Milestone 229, but he parked across the water, forcing them to walk the bridge first. It on that bridge at Scioto Mile that I was waiting for them, posing as a photographer taking shots of the skyline. It was that skyline that made the perfect backdrop for Conor to drop to one knee and pop the question! And of course I turned the camera on them when the moment came. Mallary said YES! From there, we went for a quick little walk around the Scioto Mile for more portraits against the setting sun and golden hour light, and I joined them for their first celebratory drink at the Milestone 229. As I was about to pack up, we noticed a beautiful sunset forming outside and we jumped outside for one last shot before I ended my time with them for the evening. Congratulations to Mallary + Conor!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
