Columbus Ohio Jewish Wedding at Copious: Amy + Bob

Amy and Bob are dear friends of mine, and I’ll always remember when they asked me to photograph their wedding: though they were hiring me, they wanted to make sure I knew I was also a guest and I should find time to celebrate. And with that in mind, I had a total blast both celebrating my friends and their love that first Sunday in November, and also capturing every moment of the day!

I began my day first thing in the morning, with Amy at the Hilton Downtown Hotel where she got ready for the day. The couple opted to go simple and have no wedding party, but they still had some friends around to help and provide advice – for instance, Amy had about 10 different belts to choose from to accent her dress! We then headed down the street to the Brewery District to their venue Copious and Notes, where Bob put on his finishing touches before their first look. I staged this moment against the blue brick building next door, High Line Car House, which I thought complimented their look perfectly. We walked around the block for more portraits of just the two of them, before heading inside to join family and friends for their ketubah signing.

Both Amy and Bob are artists, so I knew their decor and design would be amazing, and it sure was! Everything was perfectly on-brand, with bright colors and fun shapes at every turn. Their ceremony backdrop and chuppah was completely designed and made by Amy herself! Their early afternoon ceremony was equal parts sweet, funny and meaningful, culminating in the breaking of the glass and a dance down the aisle hand-in-hand!

The celebration continued into the afternoon and evening, with toasts, cake cutting, a huge hora in which I’m pretty sure every guest participated. And their cake table was actually a replica of an actual piece of art with 10 different cakes, all gluten-free and delicious! I loved every minute of Amy and Bob’s big day and I couldn’t be happier for my friends! Mazel Tov!

And how about this vendor dream team?!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
