Columbus Ohio LGBTQ Elopement Photographer: Jamie + Jessica

Jamie + Jessica first contacted me when they got engaged, as they were in the beginning stages of planning a wedding. We had an in-person meeting and we hit it off right away! (though they didn’t have a date yet.) But they kept hitting road blocks in their planning process, until finally one day I heard from them, with the news that they plan to elope! In 2 weeks!

We aligned our schedules and on a Tuesday evening in mid-June – with Pride fresh in our minds from the prior weekend – I met up with the couple and their officiant Julie to make it official at the Scioto Mile! With the skyline as their backdrop, Jessica and Jamie said “I Do”, exchanging necklaces instead of rings. They didn’t make it public either, so for that evening (and some days after), the 4 of us were the only ones who knew.

After their ceremony, we walked over to the Rich St bridge and the couple hung a lock alongside some others. Then we took some portraits at Scioto Mile before jumping into an Uber and heading to the Short North for more. We ended at Juniper, where we celebrated on the rooftop with drinks as the sun set over the city. A week and a half later, Jessica and Jamie couldn’t hold it in anymore, they went public with their new status. Congratulations, ladies!! I had such a blast with you two that Tuesday evening, and Julie too!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
