Camp Mary Orton Wedding:
Allison + Ashley

I’m not completely done with this wedding, but I couldn’t resist getting Allison and Ashley blogged before Pride weekend! Their Memorial Day weekend celebration was full of sun, bright colors and lots of happy tears. Also, it was hot… really really hot! So much so that they decided to move their ceremony indoors, an equally beautiful space at Camp Mary Orton. The whole day was perfectly coordinated by Leda of Events Held Dear.

We began our day getting ready at nearby Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center. Without the craziness that can sometimes come with lots of family and wedding party around, the room was quiet and calm as they helped each other get dressed. Allison and Ashley got in some time to practice their first dance both before and after they were dressed, which made for some really sweet moments.

After a few portraits at Nationwide – including with their school bus that happened to be there early! – we headed to their venue, Camp Mary Orton, for additional portraits. At their ceremony there were few dry eyes in the room – I even teared up a bit! – as friends shared readings and advice, and Allison and Ashley exchanged their own vows to each other.

After the ceremony, I couldn’t resist stealing the couple for a few more portraits in the evening light. After cake cutting, dinner, toasts and a first dance, it was time to party! A couple Polaroid cameras were passed around and even I got in a few shots! Congratulations ladies, and Happy Pride!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
