Downtown Columbus Engagement Session: Mallory + Joe

I first met these two earlier this spring, when I photographed Joe’s surprise proposal to Mallory! They jumped right into wedding planning, and set a date. I was so thrilled when they asked me to be their wedding photographer! We got back together on a Tuesday evening in late May for their engagement session. They had so many ideas to make their session uniquely theirs – by visiting locations special to their relationship in downtown Columbus. And enjoying some yummy treats along the way!

These two love to ride bicycles together, so our first stop was at the “Rolling in Love” mural by Pins Mechanical. I’ve long been wanting to shoot at this mural! From there, we explored a few blocks of downtown before visiting Schiller Park in German Village. They love pizza so they had to get a couple fun shots sharing some slices! Finally, we ended our time with milkshakes at Hadley’s, where Mallory and Joe had their first date. They were so kind to get one for me also (so delish!), and over shakes I learned more about them and their wedding plans so far. As were heading back to our cars, I spotted a super cool Columbus mural across the way, so I just had to get one last shot of them before we said goodbye. I seriously cannot wait to return downtown for their May 2019 wedding!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
