What a year! 2017 started off a bit unexpectedly – or at least, earlier than expected! Baby Girl, my first, arrived on New Years Day, a full 4 weeks early. And so the first 10 or so weeks of the year were spent on psuedo-maternity leave, with no shoots scheduled but still catching up on editing weddings from the prior year and still meeting with prospective clients, cause that never stops! I shot my first wedding of the year with Emily + Mike on March 18, and then my next with Katie + Zac on April 29. So I was able to ease back into things, but come May, I was completely back in high gear.
With being on leave for approx 1/3 of the year, this year still saw 24 weddings and many engagements, maternity sessions, newborns and surprise proposals! One epic weekend in July, I shot 3 surprise proposals!
Weddings this year took me all over Ohio – to Cleveland, Cincinnati and Glenmont – and all the way to Chicago too!
In July, I shot my very first birth with baby Margaret! Her arrival was so beautiful to capture and witness.
In September, while vacationing in Aruba, I met Francesca + Jonny on a snorkeling trip, and I ended up shooting their engagement session on the beach just a couple of days later!
The year ended with Haylee + Brenden on December 30, a beautiful snowy winter wedding but also one of the coldest!
2017 was definitely one to remember. So many amazing clients but also, from a personal standpoint, a renewed focus on family and a validation for the work I do! I couldn’t be more fortunate and grateful to be a full time wedding photographer. Cheers to 2018!
