Columbus Ohio LGBTQ Wedding at the Ivory Room: Andrew + Tom

I’ve thrown the word epic around a lot over the years, but I think Andrew + Tom just set a new bar! For this musical and theatrical couple, it was fitting that their Ivory Room wedding was filled with surprise performances. Including their friend Kristin Chenoweth, who sang at the ceremony!

Andrew and Tom’s day began on a Saturday in mid-March at the Westin in downtown Columbus, where they got ready on their own, together. Have I mentioned how much I love when couples get ready together on their wedding day? Once dressed, we headed out for portraits. There was a light sprinkle, so after a few photos nearby with umbrellas, we went the Ohio Statehouse, which the couple reserved ahead of time for this exact scenario. We made a very quick stop at the Scioto Mile for a skyline shot, before ending our time at their wedding venue right around the corner, the Ivory Room!

Their ceremony continued, overlooking the very same skyline as the s sun set over the city. It culminated, of course, with a performance by their friend Kristin Chenoweth – a moment I’ll never forget! Andrew and Tom recited their own vows, broke the glass and were married!

Their celebration continued with dinner, toasts, cake cutting, first dances and the hora – and then they danced the night away! Broadway tunes galore for this theatrical group! And more surprise performances, too! A truly unforgettable day & celebration, the energy was unmatched! Mazel Tov!!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!

Wow! How lovely! Thank you for sharing
    What did Kristin Ch. sing?

Olga! I just saw this question. Kristin sang a song of mine called “One Day”. It was originally recorded by Stephanie Block on her first solo recording over 10 years ago. Tom on clarinet, me on piano, and a string quartet, accompanied Kristin at our own ceremony. It was absolutely perfect!
