Bay Area California LGBTQ Engagement: Paige + Meg

Paige + Meg are getting married here in Ohio later this fall, but they currently call the Bay Area home, so it made perfect sense to shoot their engagement session out there! And lucky for me, they wanted me to bring me out there to make it happen. I headed out there the last week of January, a quiet time for my work and the perfect time to escape the cold of Ohio! It was my first true visit to the area and I absolutely loved it.

Paige and Meg live in the Berkeley area and they showed me around to all their favorite spots. We started at their place, which is the coziest sun-filled and plant-filled home. They treated me to quiche for breakfast before we got started. Their pup Lottie jumped on the couch with them for some portraits and she ended up joining us for the rest of the session too!

They then took me out to a local redwood forest – Roberts Regional Park – and there was absolutely no one there, but us, the redwoods and the gorgeous California morning light. It was unreal! This is the spot where Paige and Meg first discussed having their wedding before moving their plans to Ohio, so I had them pretend to have their first dance in the forest. So sweet!!

Then we stopped at the Sunset Trail for a scenic walk in the hills, followed by lunch and beers at one of their patio spots in their neighborhood. We took a short break and reconvened at the bay at sunset! They took me to two different waterfront spots – Caesar Chavez Park, and Albany Beach. They took their bikes in between and their pup even rides along! Against the setting sun, I convinced them to step into the water barefoot at the end. A dream!

Can’t wait to see these two again at their wedding this fall at Strongwater!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
