Columbus Zoo Wedding at Waters Edge: Lauren + Matt

One of my very favorite things about photographing weddings, and working with my clients in particular, is that every celebration is unique, my clients love to make their weddings their own! Does it get more unique and fun than a Harry Potter themed wedding at the Zoo? For Lauren + Matt, who had to reschedule their original date from 2020 to 2021, this was a long time coming and we were so excited to finally be here and have all the details come together! And their magical day was perfectly planned by Aisle & Co.

We began our day at the Springhill Suites at Dublin’s Bridge Park, where each side got ready just down the hall from each other. After everyone was dressed, and letters were exchanged, we headed to their venue, Waters Edge at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. There we staged their first look, and even explored a bit of the park – visiting the carousel, penguins and manatees – before returning for more portraits with their wedding party, and a few in their Harry Potter robes too! Speaking of which, every detail was Harry Potter themed, and in the stylish and most thoughtful of ways.

Then it was onto the ceremony, on the boardwalk overlooking the water. This was followed by an animal encounter, including an owl which was a perfect fit with the theme of the day! Afterwards it was time to celebrate! And the room was like being transported to a scene out of Hogwarts, complete with candles hanging from the ceiling! After the first dance, toasts, dinner, parent dances and a cake cutting, it time to dance the night away. We ended the night with Lauren and Matt back in their robes for some night shots in the misty rain! Epic!!

Congratulations to these two, absolutely worth the wait!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
