Columbus Ohio Nigerian-American Wedding at Watersedge: Ladun + Adam

At this Wateredge Columbus wedding, Ladun + Adam had one hot summer day! But these two kept their cool for their Nigerian-American wedding day!

I met them at their venue on that last Sunday in August. Each side got ready (Ladun in the venue’s new getting ready suite!) and we went right into the ceremony, where the bride and groom saw each other for the first time. The outdoor lakeside ceremony was beautiful, but water bottles and handheld fans made some appearances – again, it was a hot one!

After family photos, group photos and wedding party shots, the couple and I went for a walk and took advantage of the setting sun light for their “just married” portraits. I had promised them I wouldn’t steal them for anymore portraits, but shortly after they were announced into their reception, I looked out the window and there was a sprinkle of rain PLUS golden hour light – this level of magic was off the charts! I ran to my car to get my umbrellas, ran back and asked them to step outside with me – and luckily, they agreed. Sorry not sorry, that was absolutely totally worth it!

Then it was finally time to party! After toasts, formal dances, and cake cutting, guests celebrated on the dance floor, and with plenty of Nigerian money spraying! We ended the light with some night shots with sparklers. Congratulations to Ladun + Adam!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
