Cleveland Engagement Session in Tremont, Hingetown & Edgewater Park: Katie + Tom

Katie + Tom have fallen in love, and I’ve fallen in love with Cleveland all over again. Though these two are getting married next year in Columbus, they invited me to Cleveland for their engagement session. I came up the first Sunday evening in June, and I had only one request: to end at the beach. Other than that, they could take me around and show me all their favorite spots – neighborhoods, buildings and all the colorful murals! I discovered so many gems that day in Tremont and Hingetown! One mural in particular though, I had had my eye on for years – the Love Doves – and I was thrilled to finally get to photograph a couple there!

With a quick stop at the Arcade on the way, we ended at Edgewater Park as the sun set, starting at the iconic Cleveland sign at the top of the hill. It was a beautiful night, and we could see a very crowded beach in the distance. So we went exploring in the opposite direction, and stumbled upon a tiny beach off the beaten path, still folks around, but much less packed. We had a piece of the water all to ourselves and for a moment I forgot I was in Ohio!

Cleveland, you showed off for me that day! And thank you to Katie + Tom for showing me a new side of my hometown.

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
