Hocking Hills LGBTQ Elopement: Ashley + Zandra

If you want to have a popular Hocking Hills spot like Ash Cave all to yourself, I suggest showing up on a Friday morning just after the rain clears. I met Ashley + Zandra there on the first Friday in May, where it was raining as I pulled up, but just as my weather app promised, it cleared just in time for their elopement.

As such, we had the whole place to ourselves. It was just the two of them, exchanging vows against the waterfall, and myself capturing. And at one point, I had to stop and assure myself this was real, it felt like a dream.

After vows and rings were exchanged, their union was sealed with a kiss, and shortly after some visitors started trickling in, as if we planned it that way. We continued with portraits in and around Ash Cave, and then took a little drive down the road to Cedar Falls. There Ashley and Zandra popped some champagne to celebrate!

In that moment, no one else but us three knew these two were married. That’s pretty awesome.

Calling it a “dream” doesn’t even fully capture it. This Hocking Hills adventure elopement was beyond.

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
