Married Session in German Village: Maya + Fernand

I first met Maya almost 7 years ago when she was the maid of honor in her best friend Valery’s wedding. She’s been following my work ever since! And lucky for me, she thought of me for a session during a recent visit to her hometown with her husband, Fernand!

Last year, these two eloped in their living room during the initial height of the pandemic in NYC. They literally got married in their pajamas! So on a lovely Tuesday evening in late March, Maya + Fernand celebrated their marriage with a portrait session in German Village. Their smiles are everything, my heart burst with every frame of these newlyweds!

We began our session at Schiller Park with their pup, Py, and from there we moved onto a handful of flowering trees – paired with the evening light, this was complete magic. We crossed the street and explored some nearby streets and alleys as the sun continued to set, finding even more spring blooms along the way. Their radiant joy was contagious, I could have gone on shooting all evening! I’m so excited to share some of my favorites!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
