Columbus Ohio LGBTQ Wedding at the Bluestone: Brittany + Angel

Brittany + Angel had a blast of a fall wedding day! Full of sun, color, and their favorite people. They did have to make some adjustments to their day to make it safer, including livestreaming many guests to watch their ceremony and cutting over half their guest list – but aside from all the masks, you would probably never know it. Their day was full love and excitement!

It was a sunny day, the first Saturday in November. My assistant Steve joined me for a portion of the day to help cover all sides. Our day began separately, with Angel and her people getting ready at their reception venue, the Bluestone, and Brittany and her people getting ready down the street at the Westin hotel. Everyone came together for their First Look in front of the Bluestone. There were tears and smiles for this very emotional moment as their wedding party and family looked on.

Another really cool moment that happened in the midst of getting ready and the first look, was that the news came out, confirming Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election that morning. The brides loved this news and it added another reason to celebrate. We took a special portrait to commemorate!

From there, the group jumped on their party bus and we visited a number of locations for portraits! We started at Berliner Sports Park, where the couple has played many softball games together. A group of softball friends were there waiting for them, to take a celebratory shot together, since they could not attend the events in person due to the guest list having to be cut. Brittany and Angel’s pups were also there for a few portraits!

Afterwards, we made a couple more stops, including Scioto Mile and a rainbow mural in downtown Columbus, before arriving at St. John’s Church for their ceremony. The church limited their guests to 30, so rest of the guests watched via livestream down the street at the Bluestone. While I photographed the church ceremony, I had Steve cover the livestream at the Bluestone! It was such a unique experience, and the ceremony itself was so meaningful.

The celebration continued back at the Bluestone! With formal dances, toasts, cake cutting, bouquet toss, and lots of (masked) dancing. The night ended with an epic sparkler exit!

Brittany and Angel, thank you for having me be a part of your day!!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
