Hocking Hills LGBTQ Wedding Photographer: Jessica + Katie

The celebrations continued with the bigger wedding day for Jessica + Katie, two weeks after their backyard ceremony! It was a lovely Saturday in late August when I joined the couple and their 30 guests for their big day in The Barn at Heather Glen in Sugar Grove, just outside Hocking Hills. After a year heavily impacted by the pandemic, it was my first full day wedding in months!

Still, Jess and Katie made some adjustments to their day in light of the pandemic, including cutting the in-person guest list in half (and invitng the rest via Zoom). Once both brides were dressed, we staged a moment for the two of them to hold hands from around the corner of one of the barns onsite. Their ceremony followed, under just a few light drops of rain, against a side of the grand barn, alongside each of their pups and their daughter, Esme.

Their reception followed with a made-to-order pasta bar for dinner, formal dances, and a shoe game! It was a beautiful evening, and the party continued both indoors and outdoors as the skies cleared and golden hour set in. We couldn’t resist ending the night with some sunset shots! Congratulations to the brides, it was such a pleasure being a part of your dreamy day!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
