I’ve known these two for years – Isaac and I go way back to when we worked together on his magazine, Quorum Columbus – so I was thrilled to hear from him in mid-June with some exciting news. He and Erik had been engaged for a while, but hadn’t planned a wedding yet. They were living in Brooklyn, New York when the pandemic hit, and after a few months of quarantine there, found a place to isolate near family in McCordsville, Indiana, about 45 minutes outside Indianapolis. It was Erik’s aunt who proposed that the two get married there, and offered her lakeside home as a venue. From there, a date was set and a small guest list was formed of just immediate family. Isaac and Erik threw this little micro wedding together in just a few weeks!
It was a sunny Saturday in mid-July when I traveled in from Columbus to capture Isaac and Erik get married. Of course, their pup Ira was front & center. The couple got ready together before they joined their guests at the lakeside ceremony.
Afterwards, we took short walk for some “just married” portraits – couldn’t resist taking advantage of the full cornfield across the street! It doesn’t get more Midwest than that! It was a hot day though, especially in those suits, and we worked through portraits quickly so the couple could return to their family and enjoy a toast. Congratulations to Isaac and Erik!
I love these photos! They capture the beauty, the intimacy, the simplicity and most of all, the love. We are so happy for Isaac and Erik.
