Columbus Ohio Elopement Photographer: Tianyi + Ben

Just a few weeks after Ben proposed to Tianyi, I was back in downtown in Columbus with them – this time, for their wedding! We met up on a Wednesday afternoon on a cold but sunny January day, at the Westin hotel. From there we made our way a couple doors down to a wedding chapel (that admittedly, I had no idea existed!). With a couple family members and a close friend present, Tianyi and Ben exchanged rings and made it official. After a few group portraits, I took them out for some “just married portraits” down the street at a nearby parking garage. It was cold but they toughed through it, especially Tianyi who wore an off-the-shoulder dress for her big day. But it was such a beautiful sunny day, you can barely tell in the photos! At the top of the parking garage we got some rooftop vibes and found a few other cute spots for portraits. We ended the time together with a celebratory drink back the whiskey bar at the Westin!

This weekday elopement was so much fun – when the rest of the world is doing their normal weekday thing and two people make it a special day all their own.

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
