Nicole and Chad are probably one of the most laid-back couples I’ve ever had. From their fall engagement last year, to their wedding almost exactly a year later, I’ve always felt so at ease around them. Even when had curve balls thrown our way, they kept a level head about it and a smile on their face. They even took me up on the idea to start their ceremony at the Columbus Zoo a little early to avoid a rain shower – and we beat it by seconds!! Despite multiple rain showers that day, we still got all the outdoor shots we wanted and even a few with the giraffes too.
We began at the AC Marriott at Bridge Park, my first time there actually! Nicole and her bridesmaids greeted me dressed in animal onesies – literally the best getting ready attire for a zoo wedding of all time! It was already raining when I got there, but I managed to get a quick outdoor shot of the dress hanging from the tree between showers! The rain let up again just in time for their first look, which I staged in the hotel courtyard beneath strung lights. From there, the three of us headed to Waters Edge at the zoo for a few couples portraits before meeting their wedding party at the Heart of Africa.
Their ceremony followed overlooking the exhibit – again, we started a bit early to avoid the rain and we made it just in time! Afterwards, Nicole and Chad met with various baby animals beneath an awning as the rain came down all around them. Later, the rain let up again and made way for some golden hour light, which we definitely took advantage of. I had such a blast with these two and all their people! Congratulations to Nicole and Chad, and thank you for having me be a part of your amazing day!
