Vue Columbus Gay Wedding:
Annette + Sarah

From the moment I first spoke to Annette + Sarah on the phone – before they moved back to Columbus – we hit it off right away and I knew their wedding was going to be a blast! If there was one word to describe their wedding day, it would be FUN. These two and their friends know how to have a good time, with laughter, jokes and drinks from beginning to end. From their rooftop first look, to portraits in German Village, festivities at Vue Columbus, and ending with night shots and a sparkler exit – this downtown Columbus wedding was a nonstop party!

We began our day with each side getting ready at the Renaissance downtown hotel. Once the brides were dressed, and after first looks with each of their dads, the Annette and Sarah had their own first look on the rooftop of the hotel – one of my absolute favorite spots! Their reactions were so sweet and they discovered the similar styles of their dresses – this wasn’t planned at all!

Their wedding party soon joined us for more portraits on the rooftop, and then myself and the brides headed to nearby German Village for portraits. I loved that we had this time carved out for just the two of them! I think it’s so important to have as much of this time as you can on the craziness of the wedding day. We ended this portrait time with a spontaneous stop at Lindey’s Restaurant for a drink on their patio!

From there, we joined their wedding party again at their venue, the Vue, for additional portraits before their ceremony. My assistant Kristin also joined me to help cover for a few hours! Onto their reception, there were tons of events from first dances to cake and a bouquet toss. As the sun set into twilight, I couldn’t resist inviting Sarah and Annette outside for a few night shots, and I’m so glad they did – these turns out so well and they loved them! I’ll never forget them giving me the biggest hug after showing them the last shot on the back of my camera. The night ended in spectacular fashion with a beautiful sparkler exit. Congratulations ladies! I am so thankful to have captured every exciting moment of your big day!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
