Ruthie + Yale: Columbus Ohio Jewish Wedding at the Renaissance Downtown

Ruthie + Yale’s mid-May wedding day was unexpectedly chilly, but they did not let it get in the way of their plans! They went forward for their Renaissance Columbus wedding with outdoor portraits at their most favorite place in town, a rooftop ceremony and ice cream for dessert! Their wedding great Jewish celebration bringing together families and friends from across the continent, and across the world as well. And I’ll bet the true temperatures will be hard to tell in their warm, happy pictures!

We started our day with the girls, getting ready at the Renaissance hotel. State of Face Makeup Artistry and Shannon Goode Hair were on-site perfecting the looks! From there, we traveled to Schiller Park, where we met up with the guys and staged Ruthie + Yale’s first look. We followed that with exploring the rest of the park, and meeting up with their closest friends for group portraits. Then we traveled to the Ohio Statehouse, where we met up with their families for additional portraits there – where we were happy to take refuge inside and escape the chilly temps for a bit!

Back at the Renaissance, family and friends gathered for Ruthie + Yale’s ketubah signing, and the headed outside for their rooftop ceremony overlooking downtown Columbus. The couple practically ran down the aisle once they were announced, and who could blame them! Their reception was kicked off with a long and energy-filled Hora, in which almost all their guests participated. The night continued with ceremonial first dances, dinner, toasts, an ice cream bar in lieu of cake, and more dancing! Mazel Tov to Ruthie + Yale!

Amy Ann Photography

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
