Ben first contacted me back in January with his plans to propose to Rachel on a Friday evening in March on the campus of Ohio State University. A Buckeye alum myself, I was pretty smitten with the idea of a marriage proposal on the legendy Long Walk in front of the Main Library. As time went on and plans came together, there were more and more people involved – friends and family – many of them from out of town – were all in on the master plan.
It was the Friday evening after final exams, students were on Spring Break, campus was quiet. It was rainy all day but the group went forward as planned for an outdoor proposal! Rachel and Ben were met at the start of the Long Walk by the Whispering Steps, with friends lined up along the way to hand Rachel rose after rose. By the time they reached the statue in front of the library, Rachel was holding a bouquet of roses, both sets of parents were waiting to greet them, and Ben was down on one knee asking her to marry him! All 50+ friends gathered around and popped champagne to celebrate!
Congratulations to Rachel and Ben! Get started on those wedding plans!
