Kelly + Justin: Washington Courthouse Ohio Backyard Wedding Celebration

Kelly and Justin booked me just a couple of months before their wedding – they showed me their invitation at our first meeting, and immediately, I was in love! The more they told me about their plans for their backyard country wedding in Washington Courthouse, I knew it was going to be beautiful, laid-back and a total joy to capture.

The setting for the July wedding was Justin’s family home in Washington Courthouse. Their ceremony was in front of the lake, the aisle lined by tree stumps and accented with yellow and teal colored details. My assistant Katie joined me for the day.

The morning sky threatened of rain, but the sky cleared just in time for the ceremony, which culminated with Kelly and Justin planting a tree together. The celebration continued after, as guests gathered in the tent on the other side of the lake for dinner, cake, games and dancing. During dinner, I noticed the sun set was producing a beautiful light that I just had to take advantage of! Kelly and Justin didn’t mind escaping for a moment and getting some amazing images in the light. We completely lucked out with a rainbow in the clouds!

After dinner, guests enjoyed playing cornhole and watching the sun set over the lake. Thank you, Kelly and Justin, for inviting Katie and I to capture your wonderful wedding celebration!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
