Girls on the Run of Franklin County: Fall 5k, November 17, 2012

Volunteering for Girls on the Run continues to be such a rewarding experience for me. Seeing all the great things the organization is doing for young girls really warms my heart. Returning for this fall’s 5k at Wolfe Park in Bexley, I saw some familiar faces from this spring’s 5k, joined by plenty of new participants. The girls are so happy and energized for their run, it’s hard not to leave inspired! I love giving back and I’m so happy to do it for this organization and for these girls. Once they’ve pumped themselves up with happy hair, tattoos, face painting and colorful accessories, and completed a run with the assistance and support of their coaches and peers, I can only imagine having photograph proof of their accomplishment only brings the experience full circle. I always say I wish I had this organization around when I was young!

Check out some of my favorite images from this season’s 5k, and check out the full gallery here (look for the gallery “Girls on the Run 5k Nov 2012”).

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
