Columbus Zoo Wedding at Heart of Africa: Grace + Trevor

This one was a wild one! Alongside their friends and family and a tower of giraffes, Grace + Trevor were married! It was a long time coming, but worth the wait: perfect weather, adorable animals, and a uniquely fun day only a wedding at the Columbus Zoo can deliver!

We began our day at the Hilton Downtown, as each side got ready, and we staged their First Look on the skywalk across High Street. After a handful of portraits at the hotel, we boarded a bus and headed to the Zoo! Once there, we wasted no time getting portraits with the giraffes at the Heart of Africa Event Center. We explored more of the Heart of Africa areas with their wedding party before taking a quick trip over to the other side of the park to visit the carousel, penguins, aquarium and manatees!

And then it was time to get Grace and Trevor married! Against a backdrop of wandering giraffes, zebras and more, they were married by Trevor’s brother. At cocktail hour, the couple and the guests got to meet various animals including a penguin, sloth and armadillo, and feed the giraffes!

The celebration continued with toasts, dinner, cake, bouquet toss and dancing. We even got lucky enough to catch a sliver of golden hour as it peaked between the clouds during dinner! Guests danced the night away and someone brought the bubble maker back out and the results were epic! Congratulations to Grace and Trevor, this day was a total blast!!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
