Columbus Ohio Backyard Wedding in German Village: Amy + Adam

Amy + Adam threw together their German Village backyard wedding in 3 weeks. Life is challenging and scary, but that spring day was beautiful and perfect.

It was the third Saturday in April, when we got together at their German Village home and a nearby Airbnb as each side got ready. We met up at Schiller Park for their first look. We continued with a walk through the park and the German Village streets for portraits, against the brick-paved streets and alleys, flowering spring trees and evening light. Amy used her mom’s wedding veil as her train, I just loved it!

We ended at their home, where they were married in their backyard with their closest friends and family. There were many tributes to their pup Floyd, who passed unexpectedly earlier this year. Their ceremony was followed by dinner, toasts and a cake cutting. We really lucked out with beautiful weather that day! Plus I got to see Austin & Kevin!! A beautiful day for a beautiful couple.

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
