On the last Saturday of September, a New York couple got married in Ohio! Suzy + Darlene’s wedding was, in their officiant’s words, a radical celebration of queer love… also a joining of families, a blending of cultures, an affirmation of living authentically… in an outdoor backyard shindig in Bexley that I was privileged to witness! And with perfect weather too!
We began our day at an Airbnb in Bexley, where Suzy and Darlene got ready with their daughters and a couple friends. I staged their first look on the side of the house against a brick backdrop. After a private first look between the two of them, we brought out their daughters for a first look of their own. And together, we headed down the road to Jeffrey Mansion for portraits.
And then it was onto Suzy’s sister’s home, their venue for the wedding! All along we had hoped the weather would cooperate for their all-outdoor celebration, and it sure did. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor ceremony and reception! There was an abundance of smiles, laughter and tears throughout. And the food, drinks and dancing was spectacular! If I could bottle up the vibes from this day I totally would! Congratulations Suzy and Darlene!
