Gretchen + Matt are two of the most caring clients I’ve had the privilege to meet. They live in New York, and saw the worst of the pandemic. As they continued to plan their wedding while in quarantine, their original plan changed – Plan B turned into Plan C, which eventually evolved into the 15 person micro wedding they had on September 25 here in Columbus. But still, so many elements didn’t change at all – their date, their venue, their plans for the day – we did everything we always planned!
And yeah, they really cared! They got everyone – including me! – Shake Shack that day. They got custom made masks for every person, including all the venue staff. They wore masks themselves to encourage everyone to do the same as much as possible. At a time when gatherings can be risky, there was no time in the day where I felt unsafe.
After both sides were dressed, I staged Gretchen and Matt’s first look outside on the restaurant patio, against a newly painted bright pink wall that I thought complimented their look and feel of the day so well. We invited the wedding party to join us for more portraits before their ceremony in the courtyard. Afterwards, there was a celebratory toast, followed by sunset photos, dinner, cake and dancing!
It may have been a tiny wedding, but it was full of plenty of love. Congratulations to Gretchen and Matt!
