When Jess + Katie first reached out to me, August 8 was their date. Unfortunately, I was already booked so I thought it might just not work out. Jess was a friend of a friend, who I’d crossed paths with many times over the years, so I was hoping maybe there was some way it could! Well as it turned out, they ended up with another family conflict that changed their date to two weeks later, on a date I happened to be available! But even as they continued planning their August 22 celebration, August 8 remained a special date for them, so they decided to plan a backyard micro wedding as well, to make it official on their original date. And this was before the pandemic, before micro weddings were cool! I didn’t know about this until my August 8 wedding ended up moving to 2021 due to covid-19, and suddenly I was available to shoot their micro wedding too. A blessing in disguise, for sure!
So on a beautiful, sunny Saturday evening two weeks ago, I arrived at Jess and Katie’s home up in Delaware to capture their tiny backyard wedding. With just about 10 guests in attendance, plus their two pups, they tied the knot – literally! Their ceremony culminated in a hand fasting. Afterwards we captured some quick portraits before I had to run off to another backyard wedding – tis the season! But I wasn’t worried at all, because we’re doing it all over again later today, with some more guests and their daughter too, in a bigger celebration in Hocking Hills. The only thing better than one wedding is two!
As I gear up for their wedding later today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite moments from their tiny ceremony two weeks ago. See you soon, Jess and Katie!
