This surprise proposal was so sweet – literally! I’ve known Brooke for years now, since we first connected as staff on a local (now defunct) LGBTQ magazine about 6 years ago. I was so thrilled when she shared her plans to propose to Duck, and asked me to photograph the moment! She planned to propose on a day date she had planned for the two of them, on a Saturday in mid-December.
I waited for them at the spot – Pistacia Vera in German Village – where we had a table by the window reserved. Of course, the shop was in on the plan, and had in their possession the macaron cookie ring box, which they delivered to the couple along with the rest of their order of cookies and coffee.
Duck immediately noticed one cookie looked a little different from all the rest! Brooke opened the cookie box to reveal a ring – and Duck said yes! The rest of the shop cheered on the couple, and we then hopped outside for a few portraits under some light drizzle.
Duck had actually proposed to Brooke just about 2 weeks prior, so now they BOTH have rings, and are 100% engaged to each other! Congratulations to these two!!
