Diane + Greg: Columbus Ohio Fall Wedding at The Ivory Room at Miranova

I’ve known Diane and Greg for a while now. Diane first reached out to me in the spring of 2015 to shoot a couples session for the two of them, as a Valentine’s Day gift, as a gift for Valentine’s Day. Then later that fall, I heard from her again when they got engaged! We quickly scheduled a fall engagement session, and soon after they set their wedding date!

Their wedding day was on a Saturday in mid-October – a bit cool out, but dry and the leaves were finally beginning to change color. Their day was simple and effortless, with all their wedding events taking place in one location – the Ivory Room at Miranova – a gorgeous contemporary venue in downtown Columbus. We only left in the middle of the day for a quick trip down the street to the Scioto Mile for a handful of couple portraits.

For portraits, Diane + Greg opted for a first look, so we could get many of the wedding party and family portraits out of the way before the ceremony, and have the opportunity to go offsite for a few portraits as well, and take advantage of the fall color! Their indoor ceremony, overlooking the downtown Columbus skyline, culminated in a statement from their officiant reminding us how far we’ve come as a society and that at one time, their relationship was illegal… followed by an African American tradition of hopping the broom.

They partied the night away at their reception with their guests, treating them to a late night dessert treat, popcorn bar, and a lively dance floor. And they didn’t resist my offer to take a couple late night portraits as well! Congratulations to Diane + Greg – it’s been a total pleasure documenting your love story!

Amy Ann Photography

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
