Emily + Jillian: Columbus Ohio Same-Sex Wedding at Strongwater

With Emily + Jillian living in Minnesota, we actually didn’t to get to meet in person until their wedding day! But from the moment we first corresponded about their wedding, I had no worries about working with these two and in fact, I was so looking forward to it. Their wedding day was a joy and a pleasure to photograph! Such love and warmth between their friends and family.

We met up at the Westin downtown Columbus on a comfortable Saturday afternoon in August, together with my assistant Kim, where Emily and Jillian got ready together with their wedding party. I loved that they got ready together – not separately – so no need for a first look! Once everyone was ready, we began heading towards their chosen portrait location – Schiller Park – when it stared to rain. So instead we headed straight to their wedding venue, Strongwater Food & Spirits, where the rain quickly cleared and we got straight to wedding party and couples portraits in the Franklinton neighborhood. Even their two pups joined for a few portraits!

Once portraits were complete, Emily and Jillian joined their friends and family in the Strongwater outdoor courtyard for their marriage ceremony. Dinner and dancing immediately followed, complete a flash mob entrance and with desserts of donuts and Jeni’s ice cream! It was nothing short of amazing working with Emily and Jillian!

Amy Ann Photography

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
