This was my second weekend in a row shooting a Columbus Zoo wedding, and of course I couldn’t be more thrilled to return to one of my favorite venues in town! This time, we were at the waterfront pavilions with Jordan + Kyle. And this wedding brought an even greater variety of zoo animals to join the festivities!
We began our day at a nearby hotel where Jordan and Kyle got ready with their wedding parties. We did a first look there, then traveled to the zoo for additional portraits. We got nearly all the portraits out of the way before the ceremony, including couples, wedding party and family – it really let the two of them enjoy the rest of the events of the day!
After their waterfront ceremony, guests were greeted by various zoo animals at cocktail hour, including a penguin and a baby kangeroo, and Jordan and Kyle got to personally meet a young leopard and a sloth! To kick off the reception, guests gathered in one pavilion for a comfort food meal with various stations, including tacos, cheeseburgers, tator tots and DONUTS! Yes, in lieu of a giant wedding cake, they had a small cake and lots of yummy donuts. Following dinner and dessert, guests gathered in the neighboring pavilion for dancing. Later in the evening, Jordan and Kyle surprised their guests by opening up the nearby carousel for rides! A beautiful sunset and the carousel lights made for some fun unplanned portraits.
Congratulations to Jordan + Kyle on their perfect wedding day!
