As I look back on Adi + Adir’s wedding, I can’t help but feel all the amazing energy from their big day! Indeed, their wedding was one of the largest and most energy-filled celebrations I’ve ever been a part of. It was a snowy Sunday morning in early January, when I made the treck up to Cleveland to join them. I will admit, the drive that morning was especially hard! It was an especially snowy and windy ride up 71 from Columbus to Cleveland. I was so thankful to my second shooter Scott Shaw, who joined me shooting alongside the cinema team at The Image in Motion, at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, to capture every moment of this very special Orthodox Jewish wedding celebration!
As the staff at Landerhaven worked tirelessly on getting every detail perfect in the various rooms across the building, Adi and Adir got ready in separate rooms, and then had a first look on in hallway filled with window light. It was so nice to get their couples pictures complete before all the wedding events began, and also, take advantage of the daylight *and* the beautiful snowy day! I’m so grateful that they were willing to tough it out in the cold outside for a few shots in the picturesque snow!
The couple then split up again, for a few more group shots on each side, and then onto their respective events as the wedding festivities began! Scott and I also split up – I stayed with the bride’s side at the Kabbalat Panim, while Scott covered the groom’s side at the Tisch (although I honestly jumped in for a few shots there too, couldn’t resist!). The events culminated as both sides came together for the Bedeken, just as the sun set in the grand atrium. So much singing, dancing and movement among their hundreds of guests, it was impossible not to feel the intense energy and love surrounding this couple from all their family and friends!
As day turned to night, guests joined the couple as they were married under the chuppah in the Lander Ballroom. It was a dark room that made for some really interesting shots with lighting! The ceremony ended in true Orthodox fashion, as their friends stormed the aisle, ushering them to the Yichud.
Following a few more portraits under the chuppah – and some awesome night shots in the snow! – Adi and Adir were greeted at their reception in the Grand Ballroom with nonstop singing, dancing and lots of schtick! Their over 400 guests provided lots of opportunity for crazy shots on the dance floor, and hardly allowed a moment of relief! The party continued well into the night. Mazel Tov to Adi and Adir, it was an honor to capture your amazing wedding day!
