Jess and Alli’s downtown wedding had everything: two brides, a tribute to all things Columbus, glorious sunset shots, a grandmother flower girl and a father-daughter breakout dance, just to name a few! And lots of laughter, tears and love. Their wedding was truly an honor and a pleasure to capture!
We began our day on the last Friday in September at the Drury Inn in downtown Columbus. Very first thing I accomplished was getting each of their dresses hanging in a family member’s hotel room! Alli and Jess got ready just one floor apart, so for the balance of the preparation time, I jumped back and forth between them as they got their finishing touches and their wedding parties helped them get dressed. I staged the first look in a nearby alley – a spot I really love in particular with its view of downtown Columbus, which fit into their theme perfectly!
From there, we hopped onto a bus with their wedding parties and headed to portraits at North Bank Park and McFerson Commons in downtown Columbus. We ended with a handful of portraits at their venue, Station 67, where family and friends gathered for their indoor ceremony in a historic train station. Alli and Jess read their own written vows to each other, between tears, and guests helped deliver the wedding rings to couple by strings lining the aisle. They were married by Alli’s close lifelong friend, and Jess’s grandmother was the flower girl!
The party continued into the evening, with emotional toasts (even I got teary… no lie!), a breakout father-daughter dance, and a lively dance floor! And we couldn’t end the evening without some killer sunset and downtown night shots! Congatulations to Alli and Jess… it was an honor to shoot your big day!
