On a warm, sunny Sunday morning in early August, I joined Megan and Ben at the Boat House at Confluence Park for their waterfront brunch wedding in downtown Columbus. The Boat House is such a beautiful setting, being right on the water with the Columbus skyline in the distance. Sunday mornings are so quiet in downtown Columbus, the entire celebration had such a calm air about it. Megan and Ben are such a sweet and laid back couple, even a minor mishap in the morning – like the doors being locked when they arrived at 8am to get ready! – didn’t get in their way of enjoying the day.
Their outdoor ceremony took place on the patio overlooking the juncture of the Olentangy and Scioto rivers, with music provided by a bagpiper, and underneath their beautiful and very personal chuppah. The bamboo was grown in Megan’s parents’ home, and the canopy was crocheted by Megan’s great-grandmother. After the ceremony, we took some time for couples portraits, just the three of us – always great to get some alone time in on the wedding day! This was followed by their super fun reception, where they had a live jazz band, and a dance instructor give a swing dance class to all their guests! And not to mention the delicious brunch!
Congratulations to Megan and Ben! Thank you so much for having me be a part of your very special day!
