Where do I even start? Casey and Krista’s late February wedding was nothing short of amazing! They planned much of while they were still living in North Carolina, before they moved to Columbus last December. Remember that snowy engagement? From our first consultation, they said they wanted their wedding to be relaxed and fun, with lots of bright colors. I have to say their wedding was one of the most fun ones I’ve ever photographed! And there was so much love in the room – after all, it was Krista’s sister that introduced them back in college almost 9 years ago!
We started our day at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Columbus. Casey and Krista did not want to see each other before the ceremony. They got ready separately in different rooms at the hotel, and we did wedding party pictures on each side – first Casey, then Krista! Before each of them got dressed, though, I figured out a way to get both of their dresses in a different room for an awesome picture of both dresses hanging – without either of them catching a glimpse of the other dress! We did Casey’s pictures at the Renaissance, and after Krista got dressed, we headed to Brick & Mortar at North 4th Corridor (formerly Dock580) for her side’s pictures. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in February, and the light was just gorgeous in the pictures! The temperature was not what anyone expected going into the wedding day, but given the harsh winter we’ve had this year, it was very welcomed! I think looking at these pictures, you wouldn’t even know it was February.
Casey and Krista walked down the aisle to Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” The ceremony was a quick one, only about 10 minutes, but you could feel the emotion as Krista and Casey saw each other for the first time… there were a few tears! Afterwards, we did a handful of full wedding party pictures, followed by couples portraits of just Casey and Krista as the sun set behind them. The light was amazing, and I know they really enjoyed the moment to themselves to take it all in.
Usually at this point, I say, “everyone partied the night away, The End!”, but their reception was full of so many fun events! In additional to the usual cake cutting and toasts, Casey and Krista also hosted a trivia game about themselves, with each side of their wedding party competing (Casey’s side won!); a shoe game which Casey and Krista played back-to-back, and a surprise Lady Gaga breakout dance! They danced their first dance to John Legend’s “All of Me”, and each of them threw the bouquet, opening up the floor to anyone to catch it, not just singles! It was only *then* that I can say everyone partied the night away!
Casey and Krista, thank you so much for having me capture your beautiful wedding day. It was an honor to be a part of it! Congratulations!
