Franklin Park Conservatory Wedding at Wells Barn: Clare + Tommy

If you’re going to have a rain your wedding day, you couldn’t land at a more beautiful indoor location than Franklin Park Conservatory! Clare + Tommy chose their venue well for their late September wedding.

But first, we cozied up at their home for getting ready and their backyard first look. Luckily, these two were not afraid to get a little wet for portraits! After a few portraits on their living room couch, we headed to their venue for more portraits – indoors in the greenhouses, and outdoors at the Community Gardens. Along the way, we used clear umbrellas to stay dry, which are so cute in photos.

We then joined their family and friends at Wells Barn for family portraits and their Quaker wedding ceremony! With it still raining, the ceremony was moved indoors. But what a beautiful setting inside the barn! This was my first time witnessing a Quaker ceremony, which was incredibly moving and meaningful. My favorite aspect was how participatory it was! At one point, guests were invited to spontaneously stand up and speak to the couple, whether it was how they knew them, what they love about them, or sharing warm wishes to them. Many of their approximately 200 guests participated, which extended the ceremony a bit longer than planned and well past sunset. Clare and Tommy’s ceremony culminated with the signing of a Quaker wedding certificate, which every guest was later invited to sign.

Now that these two were married, it was time to celebrate! First dance, dinner and toasts were followed a packed dance floor all night. Congratulations to the newlyweds!! It was an honor to document your special day!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
