Jorgensen Farms Oak Grove Jewish Wedding: Maggie + Zak

When Maggie + Zak first planned their March wedding at Jorgensen Farms’ Oak Grove, I’m sure they did not envision snow! But that’s what they got! Their St. Patrick’s Day Irish-Jewish wedding day began with sunny spring-like conditions (though a bit chilly), but by evening it went full-on snowglobe. And it was gorgeous!

We began our day at the Hilton hotel in downtown Columbus. We staged their first look on the skywalk over High Street – one of my very favorite spots! Afterwards we hopped on the Bexley Beat and headed to New Albany, where rest of their events for the day would take place – at the Oak Grove space at Jorgensen Farms. We got all their portraits out of the way, including with family – before events began.

My assistant Hristina arrived at about this time to help with the simultaneous events – Kabbalat Panim on Maggie’s side, Tisch on Zak’s side, separate signings of the Ketubah before both sides came together for the Bedeken. From there, their wedding ceremony continued under the chuppah in the greenhouse, where a bagpiper appeared – a surprise to all the guests!

From there, it was time to celebrate! Guests gathered in the new reception space (which is gorgeous), as the snow began to fall – it was truly a dreamy site through the floor-to-ceiling windows. As the snowflakes got bigger, I couldn’t resist taking Maggie and Zak back out for additional portraits. At one point, they suggested taking a run through the snow – and I was like, heck yes! What an amazing day it was! Mazel Tov to Maggie and Zak!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
