Columbus Ohio LGBTQ Jewish Wedding at Brick & Mortar: Brian + Kris

Brian + Kris had a such a fun wedding day in downtown Columbus! It was the first Saturday in May, and during that one whole week of spring we had this year! Their wedding day took us all over downtown Columbus, from the Short North to Franklinton to German Village – before their festivities at Brick & Mortar (formerly Dock580) at North 4th Corridor.

Brian and Kris began their day separately, with Brian and his attendants getting ready at their home in Olde Towne East, and Kris and his attendants getting ready at the Hilton Downtown. I had my assistant Emily join me for a few hours at the beginning of the day so we could cover both sides equally! For a couple who shares a love of video games, it was only appropriate that video games were played in between prepping. Once dressed, Brian’s side joined us at the Hilton for his First Look with Kris on the skywalk over High Street.

From there, the couple and their wedding party jumped into a bus and we enjoyed a ride around downtown, as we stopped for portraits in Franklinton and German Village. We ended our trip at their venue, Brick & Mortar.

Back at their venue, their wedding events kicked off with a Ketubah signing with their Rabbi, followed by their Jewish ceremony under the tent. Following cocktail hour, dinner, toasts and cake cutting, the celebration moved back to the tent with their first dance, mother/son dances and the Hora! I had an absolute blast shooting Brian + Kris’ wedding, and I hope it shows in the pictures what a fun day it was. It was beautiful to see their friends and family having such a great time celebrating with them too. Mazel Tov!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
