Shirley + Kyle: Columbus Ohio Winter Wedding at the Columbus Athenaeum

Shirley + Kyle’s winter wedding at the Columbus Athenaeum was the perfect way to kick off 2015! Shirley is the sister of a good friend of mine, Susan, and so spending the day with them felt hardly like work. I particularly love winter weddings, so this one was a treat!

We started our day the Renaissance hotel in downtown Columbus. After both sides were dressed, we staged their first look the rooftop. After a few wedding party portraits there, we traveled to the Ohio Statehouse for more portraits with immediate family. The Statehouse was still decorated for the holidays, which made for a great backdrop in the atrium! We toughed out the cold for some more outdoor portraits, and then it was onto the Athenaeum for the wedding celebration.

After the ceremony in the Priory room, guests partied the night away in the large theater. It was a blast shooting Shirley + Kyle’s big day!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
