When Katie and Shanaka first contacted me last fall for their December wedding, I was so excited! Shooting a wedding in Hocking Hills had long been on my dream list. Plus, I absolutely love winter weddings!
It was the day after Christmas, when I traveled from Columbus down to Hocking Hills, to join Katie and Shanaka on their wedding day. We began at the Ever After cabin, where each of them got ready. I managed to get a bunch of their details shot outdoors – including their two dresses hanging out front of the cabin – before the rain came in. The rain didn’t let up for the rest of the day, but it certainly didn’t put a damper on their day! We shot their first look and portraits on the covered porch of the cabin and outdoors with the help of my clear umbrella!
Although the original plans were to get hitched at Ash Cave, with the rain we had to go straight to their reception venue for all their events. Instead, Katie and Shanaka got married in front of a fireplace at the cozy Hocking Hills Dining Lounge, with their 4 children and approximately 20 guests looking on.
Immediately following, we ventured back outside for additional portraits, incorporating the clear umbrella to keep dry and a rainbow blanket to keep warm!
It was nothing short of a pleasure capturing Katie and Shanaka’s big day for them and their families!
