Lyndsey + Jen: Mansfield Ohio Same-Sex Wedding at Snow Trails Ski Resort

Lyndsey + Jen were a last-minute addition to my calendar and I was so thrilled to work with them! I had never shot a wedding in Mansfield before, much less at a ski resort! As all their details came together, and we shot their engagement session in the spring, I was so excited when their May wedding day arrived! I traveled up to Mansfield that morning to capture all the moments of their big day.

Lyndsey and Jen chose not to see each other prior to the ceremony, so we did separate portraits with their attendants instead. The grounds and buildings of Snow Trails Ski Resort provide great backdrops for photos, we didn’t have to go far to get a variety! We were a little worried about the looming threat of rain, but it stayed clear for their outdoor ceremony! There were quite a few tears when Lyndsey walked down the aisle and she and Jen saw each other for the first time that day. It also happened to be Mother’s Day, so they honored their mothers throughout. They both have such awesome families!

After the ceremony, we encountered just a touch of light rain, but Lyndsey and Jen didn’t let it phase them! When we first met, they told me they had one goal for the day: get a wedding portrait on the ski lift! So I put my slight fear of heights aside, and we did it! It was an experience that I won’t soon forget!

Onto the reception, the party was on! Mansfield DJs ShizDiz Entertainment entertained guests with various games and there were a few shot skis to go around! Later into the evening, the setting sun peaked through the clouds, and Lyndsey and Jen entertained my offer for a couple more portraits out on the deck. Congratulations to a wonderful couple, Lyndsey + Jen!

Amy Ann Photography

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
