Brittany + Daniel: Columbus Ohio Winter Wedding at Franklin Park Conservatory

Brittany and Daniel were my last wedding of 2014 and they got hitched on New Years! This was my first ever New Years wedding and I had an absolute blast! It was super cold out, but sunny and beautiful, and Brittany and Daniel and their wedding party really toughed it out for some pretty outdoor pictures!

We started our day at the new Hilton downtown – love that hotel! The shot of Brittany holding her Starbucks cup labeled “Bride” is one of my favorites of the day. Brittany and Daniel opted for a first look so they’d have plenty of time for daylight pictures before their evening ceremony. I staged their First Look on the skywalk over High Street connecting the hotel and the Convention Center. There was a little construction going on in part of the walkway but you wouldn’t know it in the pictures! After joining their wedding party for a few pictures in the hotel and around the block by the North Market, we jumped in the limo and traveled a little further south down High Street for some portraits at the sideways Mona Lisa mural, and then headed to North Bank Park. This spot has the best view of the downtown skyline, but it was also super windy and bitterly cold, so we made it quick!

From there, we headed to Franklin Park Conservatory, for some additional portraits and to commence wedding festivities! Franklin Park Conservatory is definitely one of my all-time favorite venues in Columbus. In fact, I got married there myself! Lots of great spots for pictures both indoors and outdoors.

Their ceremony took place in the Palm House after sunset. The dark room made for an intimate setting, but the changing light installation and the festive poinsettia plants made it so fun! After the ceremony, we headed back outside for some night shots in the Courtyard, which was still all lit up with brightly colored lights. I even brought along an Ohio State fleece to compliment the Buckeye theme sprinkled throughout their wedding (groomsmen socks anyone?!). Once again, Brittany and Daniel toughed through the intense cold for some fabulous night shots!

From there, it was party time, and time to ring in the new year! Guests partied all the way till midnight, and I was there until the ball dropped and Brittany and Daniel shared their first New Years kiss as husband & wife. Now they move to Seattle for the next chapter in their lives. Congratulations to Brittany and Daniel, and good luck on your next adventure!

Amy Ann Photography

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
