Renee + Leo: Spring Jewish Wedding at the Athletic Club of Columbus

Renee and Leo live in New York City, but returned to Renee’s hometown of Columbus for their Jewish wedding! They lucked out with a most perfectly beautiful day in mid-April; it was a very comfortable, sunny afternoon (a far cry from their snowy engagement last November!), when I joined each of them getting ready at the Renaissance Hotel downtown. I staged the first look on rooftop of the Renaissance, and we started with portraits there and in the surrounding alleys, too – one of my favorite locations to shoot downtown! From there, we traveled to the Short North for some fun images in front of murals and blossoming flowers at Goodale Park. It was lovely to do portraits with just the two of them, without a formal wedding party; I’m sure they appreciated having time alone to themselves! At our final destination, the Athletic Club of Columbus, we did a few more portraits before the festivities began.

The Athletic Club of Columbus is one of my absolute favorite venues in Columbus. With so much beauty and character, it truly has a classic look all its own, and it fit perfectly with Renee and Leo’s taste. Their food was fabulous and artfully presented, and it continued into the night when an ice cream sundae bar stocked with Graeters ice cream opened up on the dance floor! You could tell Renee and Leo really valued throwing a great party and entertaining their guests. We certainly had a fabulous time!

Renee and Leo also picked some amazing vendors to bring together every detail of their day: flowers and chuppah were by Flowers on Orchard Lane, cake by The Suisse Shop, and videography by True Video!

Mazel Tov to Renee and Leo! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wonderful day!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
