Kenya + Kevin: Brooklyn NY Engagement Session

The day I first spoke to Kenya and Kevin, and learned they live in New York, my first question was: “So when are we doing your New York engagement?!” Indeed, I was flying out to northern New Jersey anyway for Liz and Nick’s wedding in August, and I figured I could squeeze in some time with Kenya and Kevin for their engagement in NYC! For Kenya and Kevin, who live in Harlem, this was the perfect proposition. We met up at Brooklyn Bridge Park, which sits just below the Brooklyn Bridge across the water from Manhattan, complete with a brick wall enclosement, a beautiful carousel, and rocky ledges at the shore. Just beyond the park is the neighborhood of Dumbo, with plenty of interesting buildings and brick-paved streets – kind of reminds me of the German Village back home! Our session was a total blast, with Kenya and Kevin cracking up the whole time, and the sunset producing beautiful light. I am so looking forward to their November wedding here in Columbus!

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
