Emily + Nathaniel: Cleveland Ohio Jewish Wedding

Ever since Emily + Nathaniel’s amazing Short North engagement last year, I was counting down the months, weeks and days till their Memorial Day weekend wedding! I traveled up to Cleveland to join them and many familiar faces for what promised to be an incredibly fun weekend. Every detail I had heard was better than the next: a pig roast, an outdoor ceremony on private property, tented reception, and a live swing band!

Weddings can often be a stressful event at time, but not so for this laid-back couple. Emily and Nathaniel planned a first look so they could allow plenty of time for pictures and enjoy the rest of their day! As such we were able to cross the street and take portraits at a gorgeous farm nearby, complete with picture-ready chickens! This was followed by the signing of the ketubah, made by Nathaniel himself. Emily walked down the aisle in off-white Toms, and there was plenty of laughter as rabbi Benjy recalled their individual recollections of the timeline of their relationship.

At their reception, the swing band had everyone on their feet, and the photobooth was a huge hit. As both Emily and Nathaniel are musicians, it was only appropriate when Emily sang a song for her new husband, who accompanied her on drums. Mazel Tov to Emily + Nathaniel! It was such a pleasure to be a part of your big day.

I aim to capture moments and expressions that tell the story of a day, and are authentic to the people involved. If you can look at a collection of images I’ve taken of a total stranger and get a feeling for who they are and what they felt, then I’ve done my job!
